Generations and DBX2 about to round the mysterious Castle Rock
  Waglan 2

It all went according to plan. Course 15, L and S, and if the easterly wind held for three hours at 9 knots, everyone would be home and dry by two o’clock. And that’s exactly what happened to the 14 boats that took part in Race 2 of the Aberdeen Boat Club’s popular Waglan Series.

IRC 1 winner, Arcturus+, in the Beaufort Channel

The gun for IRC went at 1100 and, after rounding a windward mark, six sleek racing machines headed for Chesterman, Castle, TCS2 and back – what a course, all up 19 nautical miles. The PHS fleets set off at 1105 and 1110 and went around Beaufort Island instead of the Tathong Channel Separation Buoy. They covered some 15 nautical miles.

PHS start, Race 2 of the Waglan Series 2026-27

At 1230, through the Beaufort / Po Toi gap, came the PHS frontrunners – DBX2 and Generations – kites full, headed for Castle Rock and on to the finish off Round Island.  Line Honours went to DBX2 but, on handicap, Skywalker won PHS A. A much-improved Generations claimed PHS B victory while the sole entry in PHS C, Carbon Credit, finished in two hours and 26 minutes.

Arcturus+ had an excellent race, winning IRC 1 ahead of Glenn Smith’s Wild Card. Intrigue had an even faster race but was entered in IRC 2 – time for a step-up to the first division for Races 3, 4 and 5 on the 8th of November?
